Transportation & Utilities
Set in the scenic, rolling hills of southern Wisconsin, Green County sits squarely, almost dead-center, on the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Our location provides easy access to major markets in the upper Midwest and beyond.
Green County is located at the center of a distribution cross hair, with the vertical line connection to I-90/94 (north and west) at Madison and US 20 at Freeport. The horizontal line connects with I-94 and I-43 (south and east) as Janesville and Beloit on the east and Dubuque, Iowa to the west. With an interstate bypass around Janesville completed in 2002, and several small by-passes around communities to the south completed in recent years, the logistical grid becomes superb.

National and international access is an hour’s drive from the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, and a two-hour drive from the Chicago airports, affording you the opportunity to fly directly to your global destination.
There are 12 freight carriers in Wisconsin, one of which operates within Green County. The Wisconsin & Southern Railroad (WSOR) is a regional railroad operating 700 miles of track (600 owned or leased and 100 in trackage rights) throughout south central Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintain a 9-foot shipping channel in the river and manages the series of lock and dams between St. Paul and St. Louis.
